The women’s varsity soccer team has just completed a historic regular season, finishing with a perfect 18-0 record against both conference and non-conference teams. Their dominant performances throughout this spring have MaxPreps projecting them as the No. 1 seed in the North Carolina Class 1A state playoffs. Woods has also won its fifth consecutive Central Tar Heel 1A Conference championship.
Throughout the season, the team has won games against top 2A teams in the state such as Voyager Academy, Eno River Academy and Cornerstone Charter Academy. Woods also beat larger schools including Northwood and Cedar Ridge, proving that they can compete in competitive matches.
With a more experienced team and consistent strength from both sides of the field, Woods enters the playoffs as one of the favorites to win the North Carolina 1A state title after reaching two state finals in the past four years and one quarterfinals game.
